arrow Potomac Tech Wire1/10/03: Survey: DC Businesses to Increase IT Spending in '03 Arlington, Va. -- The majority of DC-area companies plan to increase their information technology spending this year, according to a new study released on Friday by the Arlington-based Adrenaline Group, a technology consulting and software development firm. The survey of 500 area executives revealed that 59% of respondents plan to increase IT spending in 2003, most in the $250,000 to $1 million range. Also, the survey found that only 38% of respondents said that they were planning to use open source software -- free, community-developed software that includes several popular applications -- a figure that lags behind the national average of 46%. "It's encouraging to see that firms in our area will be increasing IT spending this year, but at the same time, I'd like to see them getting the most value for their IT investment dollar," said Scott McLoughlin, the chairman of Adrenaline Group.
